The Wellness Information Zone Project

  • This is a project of The Humana Foundation and Libraries for the Future.
  • September 2007 – the project launched in Atlanta, Georgia.
  • 90 million Americans need health information in everyday language.
  • Understanding basic health information effects everyone’s health – more than age, income, employment status or race.

The project has 3 parts:

  • Health Information Guides (librarians and volunteers)
  • Health Information Centers (in some libraries & community organizations)
  • www.wellzone.org website for health information in everyday language
